Public health preparedness encompasses an all-hazards approach in implementing key processes such as planning, training and exercising to continually improve capability and readiness.

It includes public health interventions that have the greatest potential to prevent, treat, and mitigate the consequences of any threat. These threats include all types of hazards, including natural, biological, chemical, radiological and nuclear events.
